Catherine is a Fibre Artist who uses stitch as a form of therapy and self-expression. Her work is deeply rooted in the tactile and mindfulness qualities of hand-stitching, using simple stitches to create form and texture. Celebrating the interplay of structure and spontaneity her process is both meditative and intentional. Drawing nature is the foundation of her practice that guides the transformation of ideas into tactile stitched forms.

After bringing up a family of two boys and a 17 year career of Behaviour Support within Schools, Catherine decided to give herself space to develop her creative practise gaining a First Class Hons Degree in Textiles. Since then she has successfully shown and sold her work in group exhibitions around the UK.

Driven by her passion for working with Young People, Catherine founded Creative Nurture, a small nonprofit that promotes the visual arts in schools.

Catherine lives in her native county of Northumberland with her family after living in Canada and London.
